Lantern Festival!
The Lantern Festival is coming at Feb.21st (The 15th January of lunar Chinese month).
Do you know why is it called Lantern Festival?
Because on this day, Chinese people go out to watch lanterns, guess the riddles written on the lanterns. On this day, Chinese people also play big drum, with the rhythm of which, mid-aged women dance yangko (a kind of dance featured as Chinese, which is popular with mid-aged women). The most important program of Chinese people on the Lantern Festival is to eat 鍏冨锛坹u谩nxi膩o锛,the traditional food of China.
鍏冨锛坹u谩nxi膩o锛, the sweet dumplings made of glutinous rice flour, wrapping different ingredient in it, such as niger seed( 榛戣姖楹 h膿izh墨ma), ormosia(绾㈣眴 h贸ngd貌u), peanut, and many kinds of fruit flavor like apple, strawberry and orange. It seems delicious, but it is not ok to eat yet. You can cook it in pure boiled water, when all the鍏冨锛坹u谩nxi膩o锛塮loat off, it is ok, you can enjoy it now. Also you can steam and fry it. This was a totally positive experience, and most astonishing was the price. Let's just say that their lessons are incredibly affordable, especially considering you have a live teacher giving you a customized lesson.
"This is an extremely good way to either learn or improve your Chinese. The teachers are very well-qualified, the scheduling is extremely flexible, and the price is unbelievably cheap -- a small fraction for what you would ordinarily have to pay in the US for such high quality one-on-one tutoring. I am recommending it to all of my students."
