Why did we start the eChineseLearning Grant?
The origin of the eChineseLearning Grant can be traced back to a real story. Linda*, a teacher we know from San Mateo County in the U.S., asked us to help her with a student named Joe*. Not too long ago he lost his twin brother and subsequently lost interest in school. Although Joe began learning Chinese in autumn, 2007, he found it hard to keep it up after four months of study, so he resigned himself to simply waiting to fail his examination. Linda asked us if we would be willing to donate Chinese lessons to Joe, and help him continue his Chinese learning. Linda was hoping we could help him get through this difficult situation, and re-light his passion for learning.
Today, Joe is taking his Chinese lessons with eChineseLearning, and preparing for his coming examination later this year. (*All names have been changed)
"How" the eChineseLearning Grant works?
As an institution, we felt that our mission is not only educating people learning Chinese but also taking some social responsibility by contributing to the community. The eChineseLearning Grant was established to assist in the alleviation of difficulties faced by individuals from around the world who wish to learn Chinese but are unable to do so. For every free trial lesson taken at eChineseLearning, there will be one free Chinese lesson donated to the eChineseLearning Grant. Any individual, group or organization may apply for free Chinese lessons from the eChineseLearning Grant provided that he/she/it meets the qualifying conditions and that there are a sufficient number of free Chinese lessons in the eChineseLearning Grant.
All you or your friends need to do is to take a free lesson! Each time a free lesson is taken, a torch will be lit on the eChineseLearning Grant world map. Throughout the length of this program, there is no limit to the number of free lessons generated and torches that may potentially be lit.
